Server requirements

Minimum:
Single CPU: 600MHz
RAM: 256MB
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
Windows 2000 Professional (with IIS 5.0 and MDAC 2.6)
 
Recommended:
CPU: 2GHz+
RAM: 1GB+
Windows Server 2003 (with IIS 6.0 and MDAC 2.8)
(.NET Framework 1.1 is installed as part of the operating system)

Client requirements

Minimum:
Internet Explorer 5.5
 
Recommended:
Internet Explorer 6.0

Storage requirements

Application requires less than 2MB hard disk space


Data requirements

Browse-A-Map reads basic, clean ESRI .SHP, MapInfo .TAB, .ECW, .TIFF, .BMP, .JPG, .PNG and CDR STC25 format data files.

Datasets can be accessed from a remote file server if required, using an appropriate "theme" file - analogous to a project file, workspace, geoset or equivalent settings file.

The application and data can be loaded onto the server directly, or remotely through FTP.

User, password and group information is stored in a simple Microsoft Access .mdb file.

A modified version of Browse-A-Map known as Serve-A-Map is also available, which can be quickly incorporated into existing websites. Serve-A-Map allows end users to simply view a map centred on a given parameter (e.g. a postcode).
